The story of Vera Ederveen
She saw her future in the hospital, but changed course. After the first contact with Invest-NL, Vera was immediately convinced. Here, she can truly help advance medical innovations.

Classmates ask with great interest about Vera Ederveen's new role. Rightly so, because as an Investment Analyst in the Life Science and Health team, she has taken a significant step. She applies her medical knowledge from her study Medical Technical Sciences to Invest-NL. “I enjoy staying informed about all innovations in the medical landscape. What's happening? How do we make the world literally better? How do we make healthcare affordable for everyone?”

Within my studies, it is obvious that you will work in a hospital or pursue a PhD. There are fewer options in the corporate world. Therefore, this is a special opportunity. I find what we are doing here very inspiring. It has come into my life at the right moment.
With great enthusiasm, she begins her career at Invest-NL. She does not have a financial background, but that is exactly why she finds it an enjoyable challenge. “You learn to look critically at the propositions that come in. Does this contribute to a new healthcare system that makes care accessible for everyone? You see how every entrepreneur is different, and how each company is structured differently. And I learn a lot from that.”
She has already gotten to know her team well in a short amount of time. A social and open company culture is important to Vera. “Even though you don't always have overlap with other teams in your work, we do speak to each other. During lunch, I like to chat with various colleagues. Everyone here has come with the same intent, which is why you quickly develop a personal connection.”
You work with very energetic people who are very opportunistic. They are enthusiastic, and that also gives me energy.
“At Invest-NL, we focus on the transition to a different healthcare system. With an emphasis on investing in innovations that prevent, replace, or relocate expensive care.” In addition to making sustainable choices, such as flying and consuming less, Vera is primarily involved in maintaining a healthy lifestyle in her daily life. “In terms of healthcare prevention, you can do a lot yourself. I try to live healthily because I know how important that is. Regular exercise, good sleep, and healthy eating.” She understands that this is not always self-evident for everyone.
“I know that for many people, living healthily is not easy. Fortunately, good habits can also be enjoyable. If you find a sport that brings you joy, it becomes automatic.” She is a good example of this herself. Vera’s favourite sport is hockey, which she has been doing since a young age. She hopes to join a new hockey club soon now that she has moved to Amsterdam.
On weekends, she enjoys walking through the city with friends. “It’s the perfect way to catch up with someone while you’re moving around healthily. You always see new things, and you really feel the lively atmosphere of the city.” Vera has a caring nature and is positive and optimistic. “You can call me for anything, I will almost always say yes. Especially for an adventurous or sporty outing.”
