Helping the Netherlands move forward

Invest-NL aims to make an impact. Accelerating societal transitions. To make the Netherlands more sustainable and innovative, we mobilise capital and offer new sectors perspective.

Making promising initiatives possible

The Netherlands needs a new generation of entrepreneurs. With fresh, forward-looking ideas. Often, new initiatives require more than just capital to make an impact. That is why we have the expertise in-house to overcome financing challenges and make propositions fundable.

This is how we get things rolling: we mobilise capital for the essential societal transitions.

Meaningful difference

Invest-NL was founded to make a meaningful contribution to societal transitions. Everything we do is aimed at promoting:

  • A CO₂-neutral and circular economy
  • Better, affordable, and accessible healthcare
  • Employment, economic growth, and innovation
  • Restoration of biodiversity
  • Availability of clean and accessible drinking water

Impact in practice

We want to accelerate major societal transitions and secure our future income-generating capacity. It’s tremendously motivating to see what we have achieved together. Read here how our entrepreneurs and colleagues are helping the Netherlands move forward:

Agrifood

A look at the bottlenecks - How we make the second food revolution fundable

Innovative companies in the agrifood sector face serious obstacles when trying to scale up. Yet it is precisely these new players who are essential in the food transition we are facing. Invest-NL supports these companies by removing financing bottlenecks. Find out how we do this here.

Dott - Working together to green urban mobility

Cities are becoming increasingly crowded, liveability and accessibility are under pressure, and the desire to keep cars out of the city centre is growing. Shared micromobility can be part of the solution; it takes up little space and is a clean alternative.

Onera Health - Improving the quality of life for patients worldwide

Through the investment in Onera Health, Invest-NL contributes to improving the quality of life for patients with sleep disorders and reducing healthcare costs. Ruben de Francisco (founder and CEO of Onera Health), Karin Steffens (Senior Investment Manager Life Sciences and Health at Invest-NL), and Bram Sprangers (Investment Associate at Invest-NL) share insights about a product with impact.

Circular entrepreneurship has no waste

Sustainable entrepreneurs must have an official end-of-waste status to sell circular products. This demonstrates that their recycling process converts waste into safe products for people and nature. The intention of these rules is excellent, but partly because legislation is not up-to-date, it often results in unfavorable outcomes for green entrepreneurs. The End-of-Waste project by Invest-NL and the Green Chemistry, New Economy platform assist entrepreneurs in navigating complex regulations. This paves the way for a circular economy.

From words to actions with the Financing Tables

The government, investors, and financiers need each other to fund the energy transition. To promote collaboration, Invest-NL launched the Financing Tables in partnership with the Climate Commitment Financial Sector, the Ministry of Climate and Green Growth, and the Ministry of Finance. The government and private financial parties sit down together to discuss specific financing bottlenecks. The goal? To broaden the investment opportunities for (institutional) investors and financiers.
