Invest-NL is investing € 10 million in Qorium, a Dutch biotech pioneer that makes leather using cultivated leather: leather that is biologically identical to animal leather but is produced from a few animal cells rather than from cows. With this technology, Qorium contributes to the transition towards a material supply chain where cows – and eventually other animals – are no longer needed. The investment is supported by the European Commission's InvestEU guarantee.

Invest-NL, together with LIOF, Brightlands Venture Partners, and Sofinnova Partners, is investing in this Series A funding round of a total € 22 million. With the investment, Qorium can further scale up its production and move from laboratory to commercial reality. The company is initially targeting the luxury segment, where brands such as Kering and Hermès are actively seeking high-quality, sustainable alternatives to calf leather.
