Elestor

Elestor has developed a flow battery using hydrogen and bromide as active materials. These materials are available in nearly unlimited quantities. Elestor’s battery technology makes it cost-effective to store renewable energy for longer periods and on a larger scale than current batteries can. Besides long-term energy storage, Elestor’s battery generates hydrogen during the charging process. This introduces new and unique opportunities to integrate energy storage with hydrogen infrastructure and electrolysers. With the investment from Invest-NL, the company will scale up to a GigaWatt production facility and accelerate the commercialization of the flow battery.

Invest-NL’s investment in Elestor is partly guaranteed by an InnovFin SME guarantee from the European Investment Fund (EIF). This guarantee enables Invest-NL to offer attractive financing solutions for innovative European start-ups and scale-ups.
