Closing loops, opening opportunities: The rise of the circular economy in private equity and debt finance

Entrepreneurs are often dependent on private equity, debt financiers, or an acquisition with the help of M&A advisors after the start-up and scale-up phase. However, the characteristics of companies with a circular business model do not always align well with the working methods of these parties, while entrepreneurs appear to be insufficiently prepared for this financing phase.

The research carried out by Route Circulair commissioned by Invest-NL shows that financiers, policymakers, and companies with a circular business model need to collaborate to enable follow-up investments and financing. The report, titled "Closing loops, opening opportunities," provides a comprehensive analysis of the current state of circular economy investments and identifies critical factors influencing the financing of sustainable and innovative enterprises.
