Financial Accounting in the Circular Economy Coalition Circular Accounting (CCA)

The transition to an energy neutral and circular economy requires a different language. A language that captures the actual value of products and materials in whih the social and environmental impact of companies are considered and risks are redefined in the context of the circular economy.
Invest-NL supports the Coalition Circular Accounting (CCA) in which we explored the role of accountants, regulators and financiers in facilitating the circular transition. By researchingfour real-life cases, the barriers accountants encounter when working on circular business models were identified, followed by accounting and reporting solutions to overcome these barriers. This final publication sums up the challenges and solutions determined by experts from different fields over the course of the last two years. It points out the urgent role of accountants, financiers and regulators, at the same time providing hands-on solutions to make the circular economy a reality.The CCA was founded by the Royal Netherlands Accountants' Association (NBA) and Circle Economy, and funded by Invest-NL. The coalition consists of a diverse group of high-level experts and researchers in the field of finance, accountancy and education of ABN Amro, Rabobank, KPMG, Allen & Overy, Alfa accountants & advisors, Sustainable Finance Lab, Nyenrode, Avans Hogeschool and Impact Economy Foundation.
