Invest-NL invests € 10 million in PureTerra Ventures Fund II. PureTerra is the only fund in the Netherlands that is entirely focused on innovative solutions for the water sector. With this investment, Invest-NL contributes to scaling water innovations that are essential for climate and sustainability transitions.
Water plays a crucial role in societal challenges such as climate adaptation, drought, water quality, and circularity. At the same time, funding for water innovations lags behind, partly due to long development cycles and high capital needs. By investing in PureTerra Ventures Fund II, Invest-NL purposefully directs more capital towards enterprises that contribute to sustainable and future-proof water systems.
The water cycle worldwide is under pressure from increasing water-related issues, drought, and pollution. In the Netherlands too, the urgency is high: less than 1% of surface water meets European quality standards. Addressing these challenges requires a water transition, with access to appropriate capital being a key prerequisite.
Therefore, Invest-NL actively works to improve the financing of water innovations, partly by strengthening the capital market, supporting scalable technologies, and building a resilient water ecosystem.
PureTerra Ventures invests worldwide in innovative water companies that make water use more efficient, cleaner, and safer in industrial sectors, with a strong focus on Europe and a clear incorporation in the Netherlands. The fund contributes to the growth of the Dutch water ecosystem by investing in water startups and scale-ups and by guiding international water companies in establishing their presence in the Netherlands. In doing so, PureTerra works closely with knowledge institutions, water companies, and the industry.
With this investment, Invest-NL aims to stimulate private investments and help scale innovative solutions for water-related challenges.
