Innovative scale-ups that accelerate the energy transition

The energy transition is our highest priority here and now. But there is more to come.

Our ambition is to make the Netherlands more sustainable and innovative. We finance projects and businesses that drive the energy transition and we accelerate the growth of innovative scale-ups.

In the context of the energy transition, we believe that our greatest added value lies in four key sectors: Electrification and Energy, Circularity, Agrifood and the Built Environment. For innovative scale-ups, our main thrust lies with Industrial Technologies. More about our focus areas can be found under 'Focus'.

Dynamic by definition

In line with parliamentary decisions and based on its own research, Invest-NL has decided to focus on the financing of scale-ups and the financing of the energy transition as its highest priorities. Possibilities have also been identified in other areas, but these are currently receiving less emphasis. They include the Business Development tasks of Invest-NL, which, on the basis of a plan agreed with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, have a broader orientation than the energy transition alone. Transitions in the field of health care or the transition to a circular economy also fall within the remit, as does the more general financing of innovative SMEs.

The energy transition is our highest priority here and now. But there is more to come. Prospective areas for investment include the major transition issues in the fields of mobility, security, digitisation and affordability of care. Both existing and new companies also play a key role in these markets, with a view to making the Netherlands of tomorrow possible through innovative products, business models or partnerships. These are promises you can hold us to.

Working on transitions and innovation is dynamic by definition. Learning, adjusting, reformulating and honing are all part of the process. This is also true of Invest-NL. We start with a sharp focus and clear priorities, and then gradually expand into other areas.
