Invest-NL invests in SDS Separation for compact CO₂ capture

Invest-NL invests € 1 million in SDS Separation, an innovative Dutch developer of Point Source Carbon Capture (PSCC) technology. The investment is part of a Series A funding round of € 2 million, which also includes Percival Participation and among others the current management team. The financing will enable SDS Separation to implement the first commercial installations, scale up production capacity, and further develop the technology for broader applications.

SDS Separation focuses on industrial companies that emit up to 100,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year, a segment that has so far been scarcely served by existing large-scale capture solutions. The SDS technology is more compact, energy-efficient, and cost-effective than conventional systems. This makes CO₂ reduction accessible for a wide range of small and medium-sized industrial installations in sectors including chemicals, ceramics, food, and waste processing.

“For a carbon-neutral industry, CO₂ capture is indispensable. Even in the long term, there will be industrial processes that we cannot fully electrify. SDS Separation is developing an efficient and compact total solution for small to medium-sized industrial installations, where conventional technology is not applicable or economically viable. This makes this investment strategically and socially relevant.” said Bart Boogaard, investment manager at Invest-NL.

The current investment is for the validation and pilot phase. Additionally, Invest-NL, together with other investors, has also expressed the intention to invest a further € 3 million for commercial rollout.

This investment aligns with the broader investment strategy of Invest-NL, which also allows smaller financings where there is a clear outlook for larger funding rounds and a significant impact on the transition to a climate-neutral industry.
