Invest-NL is looking for industrial companies for research into the financing of flexible electrification

Industrial flexible electrification can help reduce grid congestion and accelerate electrification. Invest-NL, together with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate, is exploring how financing can better align with practical needs. Therefore, Invest-NL invites industry companies to contribute their ideas.

Funding hampers investments in flexibility

Flexible electrification is essential to electrify production processes and manage electricity consumption more intelligently. Think of temporarily reducing, increasing, or shifting consumption within processes. This can help absorb peaks on the grid and create space for further electrification.

Investments in such solutions often face difficulties getting off the ground. In practice, high investment costs, long payback periods, and uncertainty about future income are frequently cited barriers. It also proves challenging to attract financing for projects in flexible electrification.

Contribute through a pilot case or advisory group

Invest-NL is exploring together with the Ministry of Climate and Green Growth whether a (public-private) financial instrument can accelerate these investments. Based on previous discussions with companies, financiers, and industry organizations, various follow-up directions have been established.

In the next phase, Invest-NL will further develop various financial instruments and test their approach with pilot business cases. Therefore, Invest-NL is looking for industry companies with experience in flexible electrification or concrete plans in this area.

Companies can contribute via an interview and possibly participate in an advisory group. This input is needed to develop solutions that align with practical needs and truly advance investments.
