Invest-NL, together with international partners, invests in Asperitas, a Dutch scale-up developing innovative cooling systems for data centers. Thanks to this investment, Asperitas can scale internationally and contribute to a more sustainable digital infrastructure.
Worldwide, the demand for computing power is increasing rapidly, mainly due to the rise of AI and cloud technology. Data centres play a central role in this but consume a lot of energy and water. A large part of the energy consumption goes to cooling.
Asperitas offers a sustainable, innovative solution: immersion cooling. This involves submerging servers in a special biodegradable fluid that directly and efficiently dissipates heat. Thanks to this closed system, Asperitas's cooling systems do not use water or harmful refrigerants. Data centres can deliver more computing power in less space, with significantly lower energy consumption and up to several tens of percent less CO₂ emissions.
The funding round was led by STECON Group from Thailand, with participation from Shell Ventures, PDENH, and Invest-NL. With this capital, Asperitas can further scale its product offerings, accelerate international growth, and enter new markets in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
“We believe in the team behind Asperitas, which serves a rapidly growing market with proven technology. Contributing to the sustainability of digital infrastructure through this investment is a great step for Invest-NL,” says Tim van Vledder, senior investment manager at Invest-NL.
