Invest-NL invests in imec.xpand
Invest-NL is investing € 10 million in the imec.xpand II fund. All of imec.xpand's portfolio companies are deeply rooted in unique technology that gives them a global competitive advantage in the fields in which they are active.
The fund invests in ambitious deep-tech startups that benefit significantly from the knowledge, expertise, network and/or infrastructure of Imec, the Leuven-based electronics research centre, when developing their innovative technology roadmap.
For the past 30 years, Imec has worked with the semiconductor industry to promote the technology roadmap for semiconductor innovation. Today, every single device in the world uses a piece of Imec technology in one way or another.
The investments of imec.xpand often serve as leverage for startups so that they can raise additional finance from local and international investors. The first imec.xpand fund invested in 16 companies, which have raised more than € 350 million in additional finance to date.
Through this investment, Invest-NL will stimulate the growth of Dutch deep-tech startups that are at a risky phase in their development.
