Appeal: to organise Dutch supply chains for critical metals

Big challenges are expected in the coming years in both the Netherlands and worldwide regarding the rapidly growing demand for critical metals. These metals are essential for the energy transition and therefore the achievement of our climate goals. Invest-NL is launching an appeal with the aim of reducing risks in the supply chain and achieving future-proof activity in the Netherlands: who are the parties that want to contribute to organising Dutch supply chains for critical metals?

Exploratory study

In recent months, consultancy agencies Metabolic, Copper8, Polaris and Quintel have, also engaged by Invest-NL, have estimated the quantities of critical metals needed for the energy transition. The conclusion is that the Dutch energy transition will create high demand for critical metals, but that there are also various circular strategies that could mitigate this demand. This is summarised in the exploratory study Circular Energy Transition.

Appeal

There are already various businesses in the Netherlands active in the field of critical metals for the energy transition. We have already spoken with some of these businesses, or have made contact with them. Invest-NL is explicitly looking for parties we have not previously spoken to that are willing and able to make a contribution to the organisation of a supply chain for one or more critical metals in the Netherlands. Obviously, we are well aware of the Europe-wide scale that will be needed for various parts of this supply chain.

Is your business already active in this field, or are you thinking of getting involved? Invest-NL would like to contact you to consult on a potential supply chain. On this basis, we will then consider which business cases are suitable for further roll-out and upscaling of activities in the Netherlands. Please conact us.
