Invest-NL invests € 15 million in EQT Health Economics 3 to accelerate healthcare innovations

Invest-NL invests € 15 million in Health Economics 3, a fund of the EQT Life Sciences group stemming from the Dutch Life Sciences Partners (LSP). The fund focuses on medical technology, diagnostics, and digital healthcare. With this investment, Invest-NL helps reduce the funding gap in the healthtech sector, mobilize additional capital, and accelerate the scaling up of Dutch healthcare innovations.

Growth capital remains scarce for healthtech companies

Many medtech and digital health companies are growing rapidly but hit a wall when raising growth capital. Especially in the Series A/B phase, there is too little funding available in the Netherlands and Europe. This hampers the scaling of innovations that contribute to better diagnostics, digital monitoring, and new medical technology; solutions that improve patient outcomes while reducing system costs.

Fund with Dutch origins and proven track record

Health Economics 3 is part of EQT Life Sciences, which originates from the former Life Sciences Partners (LSP), a Dutch fund manager with decades of experience in medical technology, diagnostics, and digital care. LSP was acquired by EQT in 2022. The team and investment strategy have remained largely the same. This makes HE3 well aligned with the strategic focus of Invest-NL on Life Sciences & Health.

Invest-NL mobilizes additional capital for a specialized market segment

Due to the specialized nature and size of the fund, HE3 appeals to a different type of investor than the standard private equity funds of EQT. Thanks to the investment from Invest-NL, HE3 was able to grow to a size attractive to international investors. This has helped attract additional capital.

Stronger opportunities for Dutch healthtech companies

HE3 actively invests in Dutch and European healthtech scale-ups. With the participation of Invest-NL, collaboration with the HE3 team is strengthened, enabling joint assessment and investments to take place more quickly and effectively. There have already been several shared investments between Invest-NL and the health economics strategy, including Onera Health, Xeltis, and ViCentra.

With the investment in Health Economics 3, Invest-NL contributes to developing and scaling innovations that keep healthcare affordable, feasible, and accessible. This directly aligns with Invest-NL's Life Sciences & Health strategy.
