Invest-NL makes follow-on investment in QuantWare for scaling quantum hardware

Invest-NL, through the Deep Tech Fund, is investing again in QuantWare, the Delft-based quantum hardware company working on the next generation of scalable quantum processing units. With the follow-on investment of €19.5 million, Invest-NL is supporting the further development of the technology and the scaling up of production in the Netherlands. The total funding round for this scale-up amounts to €152 million.

QuantWare develops superconducting quantum processing units (QPU’s) and has created a QPU architecture that allows more computational building blocks (qubits) to be placed on a single chip, which is necessary to build more powerful quantum computers. With this, the Delft-based company addresses one of the biggest challenges within superconducting quantum computing.

The company has been able to grow its customer base in 20 countries, partly thanks to earlier investments from Invest-NL and Innovation Quarter, and operates in an international arena with major technology players. This development demonstrates that Dutch deep tech can compete worldwide and can even play a key role in a market that is rapidly moving towards commercialization.

Acceleration of production and growth

With the follow-on investment, QuantWare aims to further develop its technology and increase production capacity. The company is also working on its own manufacturing facility in the Netherlands. This is an important step to support the company's growth and keep innovation closer to home.

Invest-NL is investing precisely in this phase, where technological scaling requires significant capital and private market financing is not yet self-evident. Through this, Invest-NL helps accelerate innovations that are strategically important for the Netherlands and mobilizes additional private capital.

Strengthening the Dutch ecosystem

This investment contributes to the further development of a Dutch value chain around quantum technology: from talent and knowledge to the translation of research into production. In doing so, the Netherlands reinforces its position in a strategic technology where international competition is increasing rapidly.
