Invest-NL invests in medtech company Sirius Medical for innovative breast cancer care

Invest-NL invests € 2 million in Sirius Medical, an innovative medtech company from Eindhoven. Sirius Medical's wireless and non-radioactive technology assists surgeons in localising breast cancer tumours in a patient-friendly and more precise manner. The investment from Invest-NL, together with Nextgen Ventures and existing investors such as the Brabant Development Agency (BOM), helps the company expand its applications and grow internationally.

Every year, 2.5 million people worldwide are diagnosed with breast cancer. For a large part of them, surgery is necessary, often involving tumours that are barely visible or palpable. Sirius Medical's Pintuition technology offers a sustainable and patient-friendly alternative to existing methods of tumour localization. The system uses magnetic markers instead of radioactive markers, allowing surgeons to operate more precisely, hospitals to generate less waste, and patients to receive more comfortable treatment.

"Sirius Medical's mission to develop sustainable technological solutions while maintaining a balance within the healthcare system closely aligns with our goal to keep healthcare affordable. We are excited to support a company that makes a significant difference for women with breast cancer," says Karin Steffens, senior investment manager at Invest-NL.

Sirius Medical demonstrates the innovative strength of Dutch startups in improving affordable and quality care. This investment perfectly aligns with our mission to support sustainable and innovative companies.
