Invest-NL invests again in Mosa Meat, the Dutch pioneer in cultivated meat. With this follow-up investment, Invest-NL supports the further development of cultivated meat as a sustainable yet bioidentical alternative to beef. Invest-NL's investment of € 5 million is supported by a guarantee from InvestEU.
Cultivated meat can significantly reduce the environmental impact of traditional beef production and contributes to a more resilient European food system, with less dependency on imports and lower emissions. Mosa Meat is among the global pioneers in this technology and is now taking concrete steps towards commercial application.
The follow-up investment is part of an additional financing of approximately € 15 million, together with LIOF, PHW Group, and Jitse Groen.
“Cultivated meat is a key part of the protein transition. In a challenging market, Mosa Meat has built a strong foundation and is taking clear steps towards commercialization. The strong team, the progress made, and the ongoing support from existing shareholders give us confidence to continue supporting the company in this next phase,” Victor Meijer, investment principal at Invest-NL.
In 2024, Invest-NL invested in Mosa Meat for the first time to further develop and scale the technology. With the new financing, Mosa Meat is focusing on further R&D, obtaining approvals from food authorities, and starting the first commercial sales. In this way, Invest-NL supports the continued development and commercialization of this promising technology.
