Cross-domain care can provide a solution to the rising demand for healthcare, the staff shortages, and the unsustainable costs of our healthcare system. Invest-NL is working on making the possibilities of funding and scaling cross-domain networks in healthcare transparent, in order to realize their positive impact on a larger scale. As part of this project, Invest-NL developed a step-by-step plan to assist cross-domain networks in healthcare with scaling their concept.
This step-by-step plan for scaling up cross-domain care is based on the model of the Beweeghuis in Maastricht-Heuvelland – a cross-domain network in Maastricht-Heuvelland for people with movement complaints. The first part of this project focused on sustainable funding. See more information about this part of the project here.
Additionally, using the Beweeghuis model, a roadmap was developed for care networks that want to scale up or expand their initiative to other regions. All the results together encompass an overarching plan that involves four essential steps that the care network must go through:
1. Initiation of your own position within the care landscape: Accurately determine your own position within the current region’s care landscape and assess which parts of your care initiative can be applied in other regions.
2. Inventory of the region: Map out all relevant parties in the new region and refine the collaboration agreements between the organisations in the scaling region.
3. Identification of potential funding partners: Analyse the social business case and link your initiative to potential financiers.
4. Implementation of collaboration with the landing site: Ensure good integration of the care initiative into the new region by leveraging partnerships and existing structures.
