Invest-NL finances Deep Tech through Innovation Industries Fund II

Invest-NL has committed € 10 million to the Deep Tech sector through participation in Innovation Industries Fund II. Invest-NL’s involvement brings the total amount in the fund to € 184 million. The companies in which the fund invests are mainly active in High Tech, Med Tech and Agrifood Tech. Its other investors include metal and technology pension funds PME and PMT, Rabobank and a number of professional investors.

Nicolaas Heij, senior investment manager for Fund Investment at Invest-NL, reveals the ambition behind this latest move: “By becoming a shareholder in Innovation Industries Fund II, Invest-NL is helping to alleviate the shortage of venture capital in the Netherlands for high-tech innovation in key technologies. Thanks in part to our investment, Innovation Industries will be able to back early-stage companies with relatively small tickets. We have every confidence in Innovation Industries’ professional fund management and look forward to making joint investments in deep-tech companies.”

Harm de Vries, General Partner at Innovation Industries, sees Invest-NL as a very welcome addition to the fund. “We are delighted with Invest-NL’s commitment to Innovation Industries. In a short period, Invest-NL has become a key player in the Dutch technology landscape and a partner in successful cooperation on recent projects. For us, there are two aspects to Invest-NL’s participation: on the one hand it confirms the role that the Innovation Industries Fund fulfils within the Dutch tech sector and on the other hand it offers the prospect of closer collaboration with Invest-NL at deal level to achieve even more effective financing and support for Dutch High Tech, Med Tech and Agrifood Tech companies.”
